On the 5th, 6th & 7th of Feb. in Wheeling, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. At the Westin Chicago North Shore hotel will be the annual event of the Reenactors Fest. It's a combination of time periods portaring military units through the ages. It can start with units from as early as the Greeks and end with units portaried in Desert Storm. Yours truely will be there representing the "Great War" as a US Marine, 49th Co. 5th Marines. So if you plan to attend look for the tall gunny.

Once again this was a great event. One thing I did notice this year was the lack of Great War allies. Only one other than me and he was doing a French impression. Only one German. The vendors were the main part of the show. The varitity was about the same as last year but less. Prices were about the same. This is always the best place to get a start on an impression for the year, and the Reenactors Fest is considered the start of the season. I now a good start on my BAR impression. Unfortunetly alot of what I need was not there. Very little in our time period, especially in German. Maybe next year.

Don't worry it has to do alot with the enconomy. Guys that could have been there just didn't have the cash. I use to travel all over the midwest to go to any kind of event. No job and limited cash flow has curtailed that. Sad part is this is lasting too long, I miss alot of those events. Just before this dark age I had planned on going to the UK. But be an optomist! it will get better.
