Here is something that I know would be helpful to us all. I need some help in this one. What we need here is photos and measurements of the guns we would use. Close up photos of the recievers, stocks, barrels and triggerhousings. The lengths of the guns. All this is very useful info for the producing of what we need. Our own field manuals!

MG 08/15 ;D still looking for some measurements myself on this one but here is a pretty good pic. Looks like it may be a little easer to fabricate a look alike of this one than a MG42. www.indianrivergraphics.com/poster-maxim.htm

Are you challenging the little ole MG marker Me? I do agree that the M1915 would be the easiest of that series. I enjoy the advantage of the First Division Museum being so close that I can see one up close and personal. I have thought of taking measurements and photos of theirs to create my own version. ABS & PVC would make it so light, but I would add weight. Can't give the enemy any advantage!

I've been thinking of trying to do one in steel the one big snag is the water jacket. May have to use PVC for it and, replace it later.

Well steel would be the best and the most authentic, but in plastic it can look just as good. I am setup to do everything in plastic, but you may be setup for steel. It costs more and takes more time in steel. I think your concerns about the water jacket are not necessary. In plastic it will last longer and no problems with corrosion. Just in material costs for plastic it would be far less. Wait till you see photos of my Chau Chat. Here's my M1917. Attachments:

Love it, looks great ;D,
I do alot of steel work so, for me it would probably be easier esp. because I already have the tools.
PVC would be way cheaper than steel for the water jacket no doubt about that (if I can even find the right size in steel).
So.. I would do the reciever in steel 14 gauge mostly and, water jacket in PVC.
I may put my Kar.98a on hold and, give this a shot.

That's the same idea I had with the weapons. I have the tools and material to make what I have so far. Unfortunetly we don't have the main stay weapons, the bolt actions. That will change. Seems to take forever on the bolt actions, where my MG's are easier for me to make. Can't wait to see what you are doing. I'm almost done with the Chau Chats.

The bolt actions are a bit tedious I've been making various bits and, pieces for my Kar.az stacking hook etc.
But, I'm going to put it on the back burner and, work on the MG 08/15.
So far I've managed to get ahold of most of the materials I need and, most of the dimensions. Going to do the water jacket in PVC and, the rest in steel and, wood. I've cut the side plates and, water jacket already I'll post some pics. when I figure out how ;D.
