I hope that most of you can get the History Channel. About this time every year the HC puts on a show about the meeting of the troops at the first Christmas in the trenchs. The story starts out with how the Britts heard singing coming from the Huns trenchs. Being curious they looked over to see lights shining. As the story goes the next day being Christmas the two sides met in no-mans-land. Shaking hands and exchanging gifts. It was a one time event. HC did a very good reprensentation of it using reenactors. You should see this one.
