I think we are all thinking about where to have future events. I have a possible site in mind and want your input about it. It's a current paintball site. So tell me what you think.

Jake it's called Challenge Park Extreme and it's west of Joliet. I have talked to them out there and even asked about a job. They have a modern town, an old west fort, an obsticalle course and lots of land. One area not used much has trenches used for when they have Vietnam games. This time of year they are empty until late spring. August was the last time they used it and no one show up for that game. My thought is to pitch our event ideas to them. We would rather use that area in the fall and winter. Only problem is the cost and I can work on that.

I have thought that a mid point for us would be around St.Louis. I have a friend down that way who is big into the Great War, he does a French impression. I have asked him to check out an old place we all did WWII at years ago. It's called Weldon Spring. During the war years over 65 years ago the gov used it to produce heavy water. Good place to play, lots of potention.

Heavy water isn't radioactive itself and, unless you find and drink large quantities of it, should not pose any risk.

Weldon Spring first open to the WWII reenactors in 1978 on a limited basis. Only the factory was sealed off as there was an acceident in 1967. The area had not been used even by the army since the late 40's. When it open for the reenactors is when the army started using it again. I went to my first event there in 1982. I have since had three kids and all are normal. They closed the area again in 1998 to sell it to developers. That didn't happen so they reclassified it and opened it again in 2004. For years many jokes went around and that's about all they were.

In the meantime next Saturday several of the WWII guys are meeting at my place to check out the swamp behind my house. They are all showing a strong interest in the Great War. So I'm plugging our group and hoping to increase our numbers. This area is owned by the state of Illinois and was once strip mine land. Huge area! It's a start!

awesome! i had a thought on the lonejack area, we could dress up the cars there to look like mark IV's, A7V's, and armored cars, it'd be a lot of work though
