If the trenches are dug in a field I think the mud goes without saying. There`s a vid on here which shows a small trench which a lad dug himself. If you had a piece of land then a couple of opposing trenches would be superb, dig them deep enough, add sandbags and duckboards to walk on, maybe even a couple of covered dugouts for the command posts. A downpour of rain would make it interesting and rather messy I would imagine. The piece of land wouldn`t necessarily have to be very big as the trenches could be maybe 25 metres wide and about 25 metres apart, the main gameplay would be trench raids, sniping and grenading. Might be worth trying a mass grenade attack followed by going over the top...

Of the blankburner events I have been to the mud had dried up. One event it was frozen, another the guys brought in water to make it! How far do you want to go with it. I know what it is like to live with it haveing been in the military. Once is usually good enough as it takes a toll on uniforms, equipment and the weapons. Just being in the trenchs is enough for me.
