In response to our newest member and his great idea here goes. My grandfather was in the US Army signal corps in 1916 and was sent over to France before the main body of troops as an advisor. He learned to speak French and to do semifore in French. (That's using the signal flags) When the rest of the American Expeditionary Force arrived in France he was transfered to the US 33rd Div. 132nd Inf. Reg. where he was placed in the same bat. as his brother and cousin. Now my other grandfather was in the 49th Co. 5th Marines. My stepgrandfather was attached to the American's flying with the French and he rode a motorcycle as an messenger.

Two of my Great Grandfathers were in the Great War, one of whom was an engineer in the 81st Division, the other was a cook in, I would presume, the 30th Division.

Glad to finally find a WWI airsoft website. My Great Uncle was in the US military and was killed overseas in 1918, we believe the cause of death was drowning when he fell off the side of a troop ship and was weighed down by his gear, but details are sketchy.

That reminds me! When I visted my Dad he dug out some photos and one he had from my Granddad was of a German unit. This unit is unknown, but it was on one of the prisoners being held by my GD. He kept it as a war soveniger. When I get the photo I will post it.

These are ALL great stories from the Great War. Keep them coming! I grandpa was in charge of a group of German prisoners right at the end of the war. While sitting in the rear area trenchs one German pull a bottle of potato wine out of his coat. Suddenly several other bottles appeared and everyone got drunk, including my grandpa. He lost his stripes over that one. Let's reenact that one!!
