Now that I have the material for making the fluted water jacket I have started construction of a Vickers MG. In my research I have found that commonality of the Vickers and Maxium interesting. With alittle changes in my drawings and construction I can make a Maxium as well.

Yep, Vikers are a type of Maxim just different details reciever box is shorter, fluted water jacket (yikes) tripod vs. sled mount are all that seperates a Vikers from an MG08.

Actually the receivers are the same for the M1915, it's the 08 that is different. The only changes are the muzzle configeration and the grips. It looks as if Germany was trying to make the 08 into a squad support gun carried by one man. Much like what the French did with their Chau Chats and the Brits with their Lewis gun.
