barry(tootall) suggested that i ask the high ups at bartle scout camp in osceola missouri if we could use part of the reservation for a ww1aa training camp when i go down there in july, i think this has a 60/40 chance of working and if it does happen there will be supervision from the leaders there, any thoughts?

I say go for it, worst they can say is no. I've been doing some "scouting" around for a small site we could use just for WW1 to avoid what happened with that jerk that Totall was telling us about.
I for one, give my word to leave the area better than I found it if they let us use it.

Reminds me of joke we had in ROTC. What's the difference between the Army and the Boy Scouts? The Boy Scouts have adult supervision

I don't mind being supervised, it's like I tell my people at work if your doing what you're supposed to let 'em watch.
Never know if it looks like we're having fun we might get some new recruits.

You guys are on the right track! We are educators and can use that as payment for the area. Boy Scouts are no different from anyother boy and they would love to see this. Letting them watch us or even putting on a battle senerio for them to watch. We can setup a display for them and even include them in a program. Only problem is the Boy Scouts do have something against guns. Work with them! Remember guns are just tools of battle. If it comes down to just showing them, then that's what will have to work for us. I'm speaking from experience as I have done this in the past with WWII.

You said it Totall, it's about the history. My way of looking at it is that using airsoft makes for a more realistic reenactment than blanks because you Can and, most probably will get hit with a projectile of some sort.
I did blank reenactment for a while and, I'm not knocking it but, for a more relistic simulation of the historical period airsoft weapons are the way to go.
If it where just about the guns none of us would be bothering with putting togather a WW1 impression we would just do modern.

This trainning camp idea is GREAT. I have been to a couple in real steel reenacting and they are fun. We are not any different than RS, only the guns. We may need to think about a plan and a schedule. I'm thinking of who has the knowledge to do the German part of trainning. Or just one camp for all.

Boy Scouts are not the only ones! Explorer Scouts, the next step, are also a great source. I use to lead an Military Explorer post. One of our biggest problems is the economy. They want money and we need money. I hope we will all continue working for solutions. Just believe it WILL happen.
