The construction on the full scale version of the French Chau Chat machine gun has begun. Actually I am building two of them. As for the basic airsoft guts I am still looking into a good source. I was planning on using the AGM M14, but with the problems with the selector switch have me reconsidering it. Not wanting to increase the price of the gun I may have to in order to get a good usable base. CYMA is another choice. So far it has been an easy start as the barrel assembly is all PVC. Photos will be forth coming!

Hey, sounds like a plan. Last week I was contemplating building a Chauchat around a crapped out MP5 I've got in the garage. I haven't progressed beyond daydreaming and looking for Chauchat pics.
Of course, to make it realistic you should put in a counter that stops the gun randomly and requires the operator to push a "Clear Jam" button before it works again. ;D
Actually, from what I've read, the Chauchat's reputation is worse than it deserved, but I'm partial to underdogs.
Good luck on the projecgt and keep us posted.

Most diffinetly! I got alot of the photos off the internet. But the most useful ones are the ones I took myself at the museum. Plus I got the chance to hold and play with the real thing. I make all my own drawings from the measurements I take. Looks like I will have to go back to the First Div. Museum in Wheaton, IL. because I need my play time fix.

Hey sounds nice can't wait to see pictures. From what I've heard the CYMA M14 is the best of the clones.

Have to agree with Ryan, CYMA is the best. The Chat's are being painted as the temps around here have warmed up nicely. With that I will be taking photos of not only the Chat's but our WWII site. I think it's going to get a new name, Soggy Bottom Sound!

Still have to go out and get a OTU camera. I have been working on the magazines. Plus the putty on some parts is setting up to be sanded. It took me awhile to find the material for the bipod and do some engineering. Love the part in the DVD "Lost Battalion" where the two NY Yanks are talking about the Chat.

Well at least I will be more moblie, they are far lighter than the originals. But you guys like moving targets! You know the French called us those American Cowboys. We shoot from the hip and can knock out a fly's eye at a mile. Your going to need that maxium!
