Had a thought on this whilst browsing the WW2 forum and spotting Gryphons conversion of an M14 into a russian DP28 ww2aa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=technical&action=display&thread=3564. Should be a reasonably simple conversion using an AK as a base, a lump of plastic tube over the barrel and a dummy mag on top. Could use the short 250 round mags to feed it as they are less conspicuous.

I love it!! the US Marines used them, along with the French junk. Guess which ones they preffered. (Hint not the Chau Chat) The Lewis gun is on my list to make out of PVC and ABS plastic. I have the photos and drawings and will get the real drum mag. Let the fun begin!!

I saw a homemade lewis gun prop. A person made it for a star wars convention. He used a mp5 and it dosent look bad at all.

Alexhills aren't you one of our UK fellars! Great info I have been looking into and for the vacuum form info. I like that stuff for a base in making my MG's. Say do the guys across the pond know about me and what I make? I am thinking about getting a used MP5 or AK47 and using the AS guts to make the Lewis gun. Thanks again for the info.

One of the closest in receivers to the Lewis is the MP44. Almost everyones has the same problem with the magazine. Finding a top feed receiver would be the answer.

Hi tootall. Can't really say much for the british chaps as I'm pretty new to airsoft scene. Your projects seem pretty awsome and I'm sure you'd get some great responces from the brit forum. Keep up the good work!
