Does anyone have any ancestors that fought in the war? I have two. My great grandpa on my moms, moms side, was hearing of to the war when he met a cherokee girl who later became my great grandma. Im 12.5% cherokee. Other than that all I know is that after the war they had a orchird and grew peaches. The other one wasnt family but close. My grandma was 99 when she died in 2001 so she was bron 1900-01-02? She met a vet named george and he was one of the last ww1 americans soldier to die. He was a veternian. He would take care of the horses.
So does anyone else have any vets in your family or knew any vets?

Hey Red that's a good idea! We should have a section to tell about "Ancestors". I'm sure we all have some contection to the Great War. I have about four. Two grandfathers a stepgrandfather and a great uncle. Good job Red! ;D

Nope. But I did have a great-uncle who died of influenza at Fort Leavenworth. (factoid: more American soldiers died of the "Spanish" Influenza epidemic than died in combat).
