My opinion, one of the best books ever written. I first read it in junior high, what was kinda strange was how I looked at the book before and, after my time in the Army. I could realy relate to alot of the little day to day things he wrote about after I had first hand experiance of them. I guess somethings about being a soldier never change no matter where or, when you happen to be one.

Finnish the book yet? I recomend Storm Of Steel by, Ernst Jünger very good book as well. He was a Stormtroop and, his book is basicaly his own personal diary.
Different outlook than Remarque, more of a proffesional soldier. He spent a lot more time in combat than Remarque did in real life. Jünger started out as an enlisted man and, worked his way up to I believe captain. Was wounded 14 times won the EK1st class and, the Blue Max pretty impressive service record.

That book is awesome. I got it for my birthday, and read it in about a month (on and off) It's actually one of the things that got me into this hobby (that and my great grandfather served)

I think you'll like it. It gives alot of information about day to day life in the trenches. I recomend it for anyone doing A WW1 German impression.

Picked mine up on E-bay. It's a real page turner and, it gives alot of cool info like being woken up at 4 a.m. to be issued his steel helmet, going on a raid and, a recruit looses the MG so, they have to go on another raid to try and, find it ;D .
